"Ruby's Town" Feature Documentary

The Bird. The Myth. The Legend.

Trailer to the documentary film "Ruby's Town."
Imagine a place where each fall, thousands of turkeys march into town to board trains headed for all parts of America. Where Sultans dine at lavish balls while turkey-feathered parade floats glide along the street. It's the hometown of a cancer-crusading tom named Turk-Turk famous for flying around the world, and where the hottest ticket in town is to cheer the Gobblers on under the Friday night lights. It's all in the same city where an ageless wonder named Ruby Begonia fights a relentless, annual battle against her archrival, Paycheck.
Welcome to the Turkey Capital of the World.
Welcome to Ruby's Town.
Directed by Erik McCowan
Featuring Erwin Rath, Jr., Jason Rogers, Ruby Begonia
Approx 90 min.
"Filmmaker Erik McCowan focuses his lens upon the turkey-obsessed in Cuero, Texas. In this documentary, McCowan merrily chronicles how turkey farming has shaped Cuero through a century-long lineage of turkey drives, Turkey Trots, and turkey races-at the same time deftly delivering the tragedy of how Americans' taste for tender, mass-produced birds ruined the independent farmer and disfigured the turkey into a white-feathered mess."
